Thank you, generous sponsors!!
Have you heard the buzzzzzzz? The Trivia Bee is Scarborough's funniest fundraiser! And it's back, for the 10th year!
Come one, come all! Come to Camp Ketcha on Thursday, October 25th for a light-hearted competition that is a fun expression of our community spirit.
Want to get in on the fun? You can sponsor the event, vie for the trophy, or spend the evening enjoying the show! Create a team of three to match wits to test your trivia knowledge, add a fun team name and costume to complete the package. Cheer for your favorite team, enjoy treats by SoPo Catering, groove to the swinging sounds of our local crooners, Tribute to the Standards, and match wits with the contestants.
Each team will consist of three people with one person designated as the captain*.
To begin play, the MC will read a question and then repeat it. (If requested by any player, the MC can read the question an additional time.) Teams have 30 seconds to record an answer on an answer sheet and get it in the hands of their scorekeeper*. The Referee will give warning after 20 second, and ring buzzer at end of 30 seconds, at which time answers must have been turned in to scorekeepers.
The MC will read the answer to the question. Correct answers are worth one point.* The scorekeepers will mark correct (C ) or incorrect (X ) on answer sheet and return it to team captain. Any questionable answers will be given to the judges, who will decide whether or not to award the point. The judges' decisions are final.
At the end of 6 rounds, the top six teams will compete in a final play-off round to decide the Trivia Bee Champion. If a tie needs to be broken, a question will be asked that has a numerical answer. The team(s) that offer the number closest to the answer will win a spot in the play-off round.
* Electronic devices, including phones, are prohibited during play. If a team is found to have cheated in any way, no point may be earned for that question. (Cheating includes soliciting answers from the audience*, stealing an answer from another team, phoning a friend or using electronic devices to obtain an answer.)
*Captains: teams may designate a captain before the Bee or the night of the Bee.
*Scorekeepers: Scarborough Key Club students will be assigned to each team the night of the Bee.
*Audience members will please refrain from assisting players or offering answers.
